Convocation 2011 Recognised the Talents at AKGIM, Ghaziabad

The first convocation of Ajay Kumar Garg Institute of Management (AKGIM), Ghaziabad was held on 9th August, 2011 at AKGIM Campus. Management students of batches 2008-10 and 2009-11 who graduated from the institute were awarded diplomas by the chief guest, Mr Prdaeep Bhargava, Managing Director, Cummins Generator Technologies India Ltd. Pune. Mr Bhargava, a veteran in the industry has been instrumental in driving the growth of private and public sector undertakings in various capacities. An alumnus of IIM-Ahmadabad and Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, he  has been a member of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, an autonomous institution of the University Grants Commission, for 3 consecutive years.

The occasion was also graced by the Chairman, AKGIM, Shri Ashok Pal. Sri Pal, an alumnus of IIT, Roorkee said that no matter how many efforts the students may put in to achieve success in life, without integrity, success is short lived and has no value. Compromising integrity leads to failure of worst kind.
Congratulating the students for their hard work, the chief guest Mr Bhargava recalled his convocation at IIM, Ahmedabad way back in 1971 when he had almost same excitement and enthusiasm coupled with same level of stress and anxiety before the announcement of the names of the winners.

Delivering the annual report, the Director, AKGIM, Dr Rajiv R Thakur praised the students of AKGIM for their positive attitude and perseverance. He said that difficult and complex academic terrain at the campus has been successfully covered by the students which shall lead them to new heights in their lives. He further added that the institute in a very short span of time has carved a niche for itself among top management institutes in the country. He was referring to a recent ranking of the management colleges by Business World Magazine in the country where AKGIM, Ghaziabad has been ranked 37th among 600 colleges along intellectual parameters. The overall ranking was 54th.

Charting the future course of action, the Director expressed his determination to come in top 20 colleges in the country in near future.

The members of the Board of Governors also were present in the convocation.

On this auspicious occasion, Inaugural Issue of AAYAM, AKGIM Journal of Management a biannual journal was released by the chief guest.

A big galaxy of guests which included eminent scholars, Directors of Institutes and management board executives from corporate and industry, administrators, students, parents attended the function.
There was a large gathering of the students at the convocation who were excited to know the gold medallists’ name. Anxiety and nervousness was observed on their faces as the announcement of the gold, silver and bronze winners was nearing. Amidst huge gathering the names of the Merit holders for both the batches were announced.

For batch 2008-10 Priti Gupta won the gold medal. The silver and bronze medal went to Bulbul Sharma and Surubhi Goel respectively.

Shikha Singh, Jyoti Sharma and Mamta Kushwaha got gold, silver and bronze medals  for 2009-11 batch respectively.
