The focus of innovation has shifted from being engineering-driven to design-driven, from product-centric to customer-centric and from market-focused to user-experience-focused. The recurrence nature of pandemic crisis has accelerated digital transformation in manufacturing, businesses are getting used to supply chain disruptions, remote work and new delivery methods. Digital transformation helps manufacturers to reduce costs, optimize the process, enhance the quality of the products, and increase the overall productivity. Ajay Kumar Garg Institute of Management (AKGIM) in association with Ghaziabad Management Association (GMA) organized two days online Management Development Program on “Design Thinking, Innovation & Digital transformation: Strategic Growth Drivers for Industry” from 25th Feb. to 26th Feb., 2022. Thirty-Seven participants registered for the online MDP from different companies and institutions.This MDP provided opportunity to learn essentials of digital transformations and innovation through Design Thinking & TRIZ methodologies. Participants were demonstrated how to use the newly-found knowledge to propose effective and innovative solutions. The resource persons invited in this MDP had practical experience in the domain of design thinking, TRIZ methodology and digital business practices. The resource persons had vast experience on variety of industry projects as consultant and business professional.

Day-1 of MDP on “Design Thinking, Innovation & Digital transformation: Strategic Growth Drivers for Industry”

Sh. Dharmendra Singh, President Ghaziabad Management Association (GMA) delivered inaugural address on the first day of MDP. He shared his practical experience about design thinking and the importance of digital transformation for industry. He also highlighted the role of academic institutions in bringing innovation for industry. Dr.TR Pandey, Director, AKGIM welcome all the participants, guests and resource person and delivered a brief welcome address to acknowledge the presence of dignitaries from GMA and resource persons for the program. He also encouraged the organizing team and motivate participants through his thoughts. On Day-1, Mr. Mr. Karmjitsinh Bihola, Founder, Innodesk Designovation Services delivered the two sessions. In first session he discussed Design Thinking (DT) as a Structured Approach for Innovation through ideation to test which was followed by the second session on Creativity & Innovation. He explained the basics of design thinking and different models of design thinking. He created a connect with the participants by relating theconcept of creativity and innovation with how these can be used to solve business problem. He explained how design thinking and creativity can create opportunity while working with problems.He involved participants in the discussion during the presentation to aware them about the enormous scope that design thinking beholds for industry and industry professionals. The sessionswere full of information and insights. Participants appreciated the session with positive remarks.

Day-2 of MDP on “Design Thinking, Innovation & Digital transformation: Strategic Growth Drivers for Industry”

On second day of MDP,Sh. Vinay Gupta, Executive Director, GMA addressed the participants and organizing team with his valuable thoughts and encouraging words. He explained the relevance of design thinking in initiating and creating innovation especially in the post COVID time for industry. On Day-2 Dr. Prakash Apte, Founder and President, APTennovate introduced the participants with TRIZ methodology to explain problem solving and product realization. He explained how quick fix solution led to micro modification and later major modification products. He highlighted how the principles of TRIZ methodology can be used for the cost-effective development of products. The second session on day-2 was delivered by Mr. Suomitra Chakraborty, Consultant& Advisor Sunstone Eduversity. He gave complete insight on how digitization, digitalization and digital transformation linked to the development of industry from industry 0.1 to industry 0.4 and industry 0.5. He demonstrated how should a company prepare itself before diving for digital transformation. Digital Twin, Role of cloud, IoT, AR, VR and 3-printing were demonstrated by videos and by sharing various used cased from industry. His session and the session delivered by Dr.Apte were highly appreciated by participants.

MDP- Operations

Ajay Kumar Garg Institute of Management, Ghaziabad in association with Ghaziabad Management Association (GMA) organized two days Management Development Program on “Building Sustainable Operations for Cost Optimization” during January 24 - 25, 2020.

The purpose of this program was to foresee or predict as many challenges and problems as possible; and to plan, organize and control the activities to drive down operational cost. This program was designed to develop an understanding of tools and techniques for effective management of resources, cost and to expose various aspects related to planning, organizing and controlling the activities to drive down operational cost.

The program was coordinated by Dr. Ritesh Singhal, CA Neeta Sahu and Prof. Alok Singh and duly supported by Dr. T. R. Pandey, Director, AKGIM. The event witnessed a participation of various working professionals from more than six companies located in Delhi- NCR.

The program was inaugurated by Mr. Vinay Gupta, Executive Director, Ghaziabad Management Association, Dr. T. R. Pandey, Director- AKGIM and key speaker and expert Dr. Sumit Shandilya –Director, IIPE, Faridabad. Inaugural ceremony was concluded by Prof. Alok Singh, briefed everyone about the program and the program schedule.

This Management Development Program was basically designed to discuss various operations practices to drive down cost and to attain economies of scale. Program witnessed various sessions that covered Supply Chain and Logistics, Quality, Inventory and Environmental Perspective for cost optimization.

On day 1, first session on “Supply Chain and Logistics” was covered by Speaker Dr. Sumit Shandilya– Director, IIPE, Faridabad and second session on “Quality Deployment” was covered by Speaker and Expert Mr. Ajay Shukla, Operations Excellence Manager, Nokia Networks.

On day 2, first session on “Inventory Optimization” was discussed by Speaker Mr. Hitanshu Maheshwari, Manager (D&E-Antenna), Bharat Electronics Limited and second session on “Environment Management” was discussed by Speaker and Expert Prof. Alok Kumar Bhargawa.

The program was concluded with Valedictory session & Certificate Distribution on 25th January, 2020 by Dr. TR. Pandey and Speaker of the day and Expert Prof. Alok Kumar Bhargawa.

Expediency of MDP

Old techniques could not be the wheel of transformation. Through this MDP, participants will be able to explore various quality management activities that should be used by company during its operational and technological transformation. Implementation of Quality management is a team effort headed by a leader, in the course of MDP, employees will be able to understand how their involvement in the QM activities can improve their effectiveness while the managers be able to know what to do proactively about the various areas of quality and how to unify available skills and talent. New age of industry concerned with manufacturing as well as services, consequently quality management broadens its applications into both the fields. One of the takeaways of this MDP would be about the understanding of TQM tools applicable to both the fields.

MDP Resource Person

Dr. Sumit Shandilya is a key professional for deployment of Quality Management system, Lean manufacturing system, Six Sigma, TQM, TPM, Problem Solving. He has worked with various big business houses of the country like HERO MotoCorp Limited, Maruti Center for Excellence - Maruti Suzuki India Limited and VISA Steel Limited.

CA Vikash Sharma Co-founder of the firm ATHRV & Associates. He has worked with State Bank of India in various capacities and possesses rich experience in Project Financing to Start-Ups, Large Corporate and MSMEs.

Mr. Hitanshu Maheshwari is a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) from Project Management Institute, USA and a Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) from ASQ, USA. He has a total experience of 18 years in the domain. He has worked as a Project manager for various projects.

Mr. A.K. Bhargava is an alumnus from Delhi Technival University and FMS, Delhi University. He has a rich experience of 38 years with Bharat Electronics Ltd. He has been a guest faculty to many reputed management institutes.

Dr. Ritesh Singhal, Prof. Neeta Sahu Gaur and Prof. Pankaj Chauhan, Faculty AKGIM coordinated the MDP on both the days.

Summary of Programme

The program was inaugurated by Dr. T. R. Pandey, Director AKGIM. A brief address was delivered by Mr. Vinay Gupta, Executive Director, GMA. The first session of Day 1 was conducted by Dr. Sumit Shandilya. The day ended with a session delivered by CA Vikash Sharma. Day 2 of the MDP started with the session by Mr. Hitanshu Maheshwari followed by the session by Mr. A.K. Bhargava. All sessions were supplemented with many practical examples from Industry to give a better understanding of the concept. Case study was discussed on second day to involve participants in resolving quality related issues presented in the case study.

The MDP was concluded with valedictory session where Dr. TR Pandey, Director AKGIM distributed certificates to all the participants.

Two-day Training Program on "Digitalization of Marketing" was conducted by Ajay Kumar Garg Institute of Management in association with Ghaziabad Management Association at its campus on 11th and 12th May, 2018.

The central theme of all the sessions was to generate awareness about the strategic importance of digitalizing the marketing efforts.

Summary of Programme

It was followed by two sessions on 'Social Media Marketing' by Mr. Sanjay Tiwari, The day ended with a session on 'Strategic aspect of Social Media Marketing' by Mr. Sanjay Tiwari. Day 2 of the training programme started with the session on 'Website planning, designing and development' by Mr. Krishna Singh followed by the session on 'Search Engine Optimization' by Mr. Soumitra Chakraborty. The final session of the second day was conducted by Mr. Krishna Singh on 'Web Analytics'. All sessions were planned to encourage participation and to discuss 'How to' of most of the concepts covered during the training programme. 30th April - 1st May 2018

AKGIM in association with GMA conducted two days Management Development Program on "Transition through Supervisory and Managerial Excellence at Work Place" on 30th April- 1st May 2018. This MDP focused on First level leaders' i.e. Supervisors and first line managers who leverage workers and help companies in gaining competitive advantage in the market. Program got good response from the organisations like Continental Carbon India Ltd, Unichem Laboratories Ltd as well as the participants. Program was inaugurated by Director AKGIM, Dr. T.R Pandey and Mr. Vinay Gupta Executive Director GMA. This program helped participants in harnessing their competencies and skills which are necessary to handle team or group at a functional level. MDP was spread over in six sessions, delivered by very experienced and high profile persons from corporate. Program concluded by distribution of certificates.

Ajay Kumar Garg Institute of Management in association with Ghaziabad Management Association conducted a two-day Management Development Programme on Management Development Program on "Project Management" on January 12-13, 2018.

The program focused on understanding effective project management techniques to help organizations carry out large-scale projects on time, on budget and with minimal disruption to the rest of the business. The MDP was attended by both senior and middle level participants from various organizations like Unichem Laboratories Ltd., Ghaziabad Precision Products (P) Ltd., National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) to name a few and many others. Majority of the participants were from the area of production and operations of various manufacturing set-ups.
